Sept. 11, 2004 - Africa's senior Greek Orthodox leader, Patriarch Petros VII of Alexandria, Egypt, and a dozen other religious officials were killed Saturday when a helicopter carrying them to the monastic community of Mt. Athos in northern Greece crashed minutes before it was scheduled to land.
